Sofia Restaurant Week is back for the Autumn with more restaurants and a tempting mix of flavours and locations.

From 10 to 16 September Sofia once again becomes the taste capital of Bulgaria with 30 restaurants or a total of 60 set menus to choose from.

Sofia Restaurant Week returns to celebrate the end of Summer with new gourmet delights to help you ‘Discover the Tastes of Sofia’.

The third edition of Sofia’s tastiest festival features 30 restaurants offering a total of 60 3-course set menus priced at 25 lv each. Menus are available at lunch and dinner, from Sunday 10 to Saturday 16 September inclusive and include food but not drinks and tips. You need to book in advance as places sell out fast.

Vegetarians will be happy this year, with 9 vegetarian menus on offer at Happy Pig, Annette, Aubergine, die Alte Lampe, Greenline, Grozd, La Rocca, Red Coral Kitchen and Saffron. Having said that, the majority of restaurants are offering meat, including Black Angus beef, ribeye steaks, rabbit, duck and goose liver patée and more. Fish is a popular option this Autumn, with the focus on locally sourced wild fish such as trout or Nile perch.

With 17 entirely new participants and 13 repeated from previous editions the organisers continue in their mission to introduce food-lovers from Sofia and further afield to the delightful restaurants that the city has to offer.

First timers are the new Thai restaurant Royal Thai, Japanese Hamachi-ni, Moroccan Annette, German pub Die Alte Lampe, trendy Emotion Bar&Kitchen, out of town My Choice, Crystal Burger&Steak, old favourite Grozd, Bulgarian Delvite, Red Coral Kitchen, Aubergine, wine bar Grape Central, Greenline, Greek The Olive Tree, and cosy Italian Focaccia

This Autumn’s edition has a tomato theme – most of the restaurants have included the Bulgarian pink tomato in their menu and will offer special pink tomato dishes during the week. METRO’s Tomato Fest on 16th September in front of the Soviet Army Monument rounds off the week with a farmer’s market offering tomatoes of all kinds to buy, various tomato-themed dances and events, prize draws and an exhibition of the imaginative tomato dishes Sofia’s chefs have come up with.
